Reggie Hannon Cup

The Reggie Hannon Memorial Cup 2010 - Over 25s v Under 25s in a classic battle. 

In the waning days of the Summer of 2008 Keswick Wright and Shane Aquart brought two teams together onto the field of CRFU conflict; one young and brash, filled with speed and agility, the other older, calmer, stronger, less apt to rush and more likely to drive ahead hard and slow. Keswick’s team was under 30 and Shane’s team was over 30. And from that humble little beginning humble fun was born.

A challenge was laid a cup was suggested. And then with the sad passing of Reggie Hannon the silverware was donated, in his honour, and a sponsor in Appleton and Tia Maria, two of Reggie’s favourite things, was found.

Today the tradition continues and although the rules have been bent and broken a few times - now the under/over 25's is played - the memory remains. You can almost smell the Appleton scented dog breath....
